Eerie Encounters : Abducted in the Village of Dark Magic (Part I)

 In the year 2010, Dane, his wife Kate and their 10-year-old daughter Nancy travelled to a small village called Mayong in Assam for their vacation. Although the initial place was a different one, Dane had to change his plans because of his daughter's pressure.

 After packing all the essential things needed for their one-week trip, the family boarded their flight to Assam. When the flight landed and the family got into a cab for their 30 KM journey, Dane felt that travelling to Assam was a really good decision. Being a wildlife photographer, Dane instantly fell in love with the greenness that surrounded him. Not just Dane, but both his wife and daughter liked the place a lot.

All about Mayong

 Mayong is a popular tourist spot because of its rich wildlife, archaeological heritage, the interesting culture of its people, and adventure and river sports. Keeping the good things aside, Mayong is also a hotspot for dark magic and it is regarded as the most haunted village in India. This village is surrounded by eerie stories of people disappearing into thin air, people being turned into animals and much more. In one such story, it is said that almost 1 lakh horsemen of an invader named Muhammad Shah disappeared during the 1330s because of black magic and witchcraft without leaving a trace behind.

 Most of its inhabitants know and practice black magic and the village has many doctors named Ojaa who use black magic and witchcraft to treat illness. They are said to have ghosts working for them as assistants.  Black magic had been practised so long in this village that these practices have been recorded in many ancient books. These books can still be found in the Mayong Central Museum and Emporium. Human sacrifices to Goddess Shakti for attaining different powers of black magic had been practised throughout the history of the village and some like Dane claim that it is practised even now.

Part I

 Coming back to the story, Dane and his family went to sleep quite early that day due to their tiring journey. The next day, Dane got up early in the morning and decided to venture out into the forest near his resort to get a good glimpse of the village’s flora and fauna before the other two woke up. But when he almost got into the tree line, the resort manager came rushing to him and warned him not to go into the forest alone. Dane thought that the warning was because of the dangerous wild animals this forest hosted and told the manager that he was a wildlife photographer. But the manager told Dave, “Sir, the things that happen inside these forests are deadlier than the most dangerous animal. Please don’t go inside”. Dave was intimidated by his statement and decided to go back to his room.

 Later that morning, the family went to the Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary just as planned. The beauty of this sanctuary mesmerised the trio and Nancy being a little girl, loved seeing the enormous one-horned rhinos in person. The place was so engaging that before the family could realise it, the sun had already begun to set. When they returned to their room after a memorable day, Dane and Kate put Nancy to sleep and sat beside the window gazing at the breathtaking beauty of the forest as it shimmered in the moonlight. Romantic tension started building up between the couple and Kate leaned in to kiss her husband. While she was about to plant her lips on Dane’s, she saw something weird near the tree line which was around 100 metres away from their resort and it made her speechless.

 She saw a couple of naked women staring right at her with eerie emotionless smiles. With Kate’s face turning pale, Dane understood that his wife was scared of something she was seeing. When he slowly tilted his dead to see what was frightening her, he saw these two naked women staring at her. One of the two women seemed to be gesturing something which was not clear because of the distance. He instantly opened his phone’s camera and used the telephoto sensor to see what they were gesturing. What he saw caught him off-guard. The naked woman gestured to a baby and then gestured cutting off its head. Before he could recollect himself, the women magically disappeared. To make sure he was not the only one seeing this, Dane slowly nudged his still speechless wife’s shoulder, to ask her if she saw it too.

 Kate was bought back to her sense by the nudge and the very next moment, she hugged Dane tightly in fear and started crying. When Dane asked her what happened, she told him, “Those ladies gave me visions of our daughter suffering. They… they…”. Kate stopped her statement in between as she did not want to say anything more. Dane understood what she was going through and calmed her down. Dane got on top of the bed and pulled Kate onto his chest. He started tapping on her back to put her to sleep but it didn’t work and the remainder of the night was filled with their sleeplessness.

 When the sun almost dawned, Kate requested Dane to cut the trip short and return back to their home. Dane being a loving husband listened to his wife and agreed to return back to their house even though he was not completely okay with it. But unfortunately, the flight tickets were sold out for that day and they were forced to stay in the village for one more day. This day would turn out to be a dreaded one for them.

 The couple sternly told their daughter not to leave the room for anything. They tried their best to stay awake and take care of their daughter but because of not sleeping the previous night, they eventually dozed off. When the time was around 4 pm, Dane woke up because of his urge to urinate. The moment he opened his eyes, he instantly searched for his daughter to make sure she was alright. He was relieved seeing her lying next to her mother and he went into the washroom.

 When he walked out of the washroom, he found his daughter missing with the main door wide open. Thinking that she might have gotten out of the room, he ran towards the open door but when he was about to leave the room, the door shut close on its own. Dane pulled the door with all his strength but the door was firmly held in place by a strong invisible force. Kate woke up from her slumber due to this ruckus and seeing that her daughter was not by her side, she immediately ran towards the window through which she saw those women the previous night. As she peeked through it, she saw her daughter walk towards the tree line in a trance state. On the tree line stood those naked women whom she saw the previous night.

 Kate understood that something was terribly wrong and joined forces with Dane to try and open the door but it just wouldn’t open. With her eyes still on the window, Kate noticed that her daughter was almost into the woods. The vision she saw the previous night re-flashed in Kate’s head that moment. In her vision, she saw her daughter going into the woods after being lured by those naked women. Once she was deep into the forest, these women abducted her and took her to an eerily strange place in the middle of the forest. This place had a huge altar in the middle surrounded by a circular wall of trees. Around this altar stood multiple naked women, drinking what appeared to be blood.

 A few of these women undressed Nancy and tied her to the altar with her hands and legs spread apart making an “X” shape. One naked woman smeared with blood walked towards the altar and started carving out a strange symbol on Nancy’s bare chest. As she squirmed in pain, this woman started plucking out her hair one by one. It was at this point Dane nudged her shoulder and bought her out of her vision.

 Seeing her vision starting to happen in real, Kate jumped out of the window to try and save her daughter as the door was not opening. Since their room was only on the first floor of the resort, Kate did not sustain any major injuries. Seeing her daughter walk into the forest, Kate ran towards the forest with blood oozing out of the cuts made by the broken glass on her body. (Continued in Part II)
